INTRODUCTION

Welcome to an exploration of the graphic art of Holman, a community located in the Northwest Territories, in Arctic Canada. The content of this site is based on the exhibition Holman: Forty Years of Graphic Art organized by The Winnipeg Art Gallery in Winnipeg, Canada which is home to the largest collection of contemporary Inuit art in the Western world. The exhibition was curated by Darlene Coward Wight whose interviews with artists, photographs and video of the community and of artists at work provide a rare opportunity to experience the art and culture of a remote northern Canadian community.
