Artists create certain landscapes that they,
in a sense, walk through themselves. For viewers to follow
on these journeys without straying, they must look for signposts
at the intersections of life and art.
Sometimes those signposts point to the artists
own character or psyche, sometimes to a lifes experience
or system of beliefs, sometimes to a highly individual vision
of the world. Or they can point to the artists search
for a newly blazed stylistic pathway.
Whatever the signposts indicate, viewers soon
learn that journeys through an artists personal landscape
are as much inward as outward bound.
