Gregorian Chant
During the 9th and the 10th centuries, the Benedictine monks perfected a way of signing the Psalms and the liturgical hymns that probably originated from Pope Gregory the Great (590-604). This type of music continued to evolve during all of the Middle Ages and is known as Gregorian chant.
