I The Angel Gabriel Visits Mary
The angel Gabriel visits Mary and tells her that she is chosen to bear a special child. She is confused and afraid because she is a virgin; but the angel tells her not to be afraid because the Holy Spirit is with her. Joseph is also frightened and doesn’t want to wed Mary, thinking she was unfaithful. An angel appears to him also, and tells him that the child is special and to name the baby Jesus, which means "God saves".
