As the world economy is crashing, the usefulness of the self-sufficient way of the trappist monks becomes apparent. But one monk decides to breed great danes to raise extra money. Learn about his story and think about what ideas you might share with your brethren monks.

1. Dom Leonard became the abbot in 1936.
2. Great Danes sold for $25 - $100 The monks stopped breeding them commercially after the expert Brother Albert died in 1935. The last breeding pair, Prince Bob von der Klausenburg and Princess von der Klausenburg had many puppies afterward but were kept for guard dogs.
