GHETTOS
Ghettos were designated parts of a city where Jews were forced to live. The ghettos were often sealed by barbed wire or walls. Jews were assembled in ghettos prior to their deportation to concentration camps. Life in the ghettos was characterized by overcrowding, starvation, disease and forced labour.
