And I will luve thee still, my Dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry.
(Robert Burns, “A Red, Red Rose”)

There are few stories in the history of human culture that have as much power to endure the ravages of time as the story of love. These stories may be whimsical, like Cupid and Psyche, or may speak of the journey of the soul seeking its home, as depicted in both the life of Dante and Beatrice and in the great poet's work. Often they are stories of tragic, forbidden or rejuvenating love. In each of these stories we glimpse the great unity of the human experience of love across generations and cultures.
